Lowell T. “Tom” Williams, age 89 of Winston-Salem, NC completed his earthly journey on 18th day of August, 2022. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Deanna B. Williams, of 56 years. Tom was born August 23, 1932 in the Enon community near East Bend, NC. He was the son of the late Clifford P. and Grace R. Williams. Tom was an active member of New Philadelphia Moravian Church in Winston-Salem, NC serving on both the Trustee and Board of Elders, taught Sunday School and was an usher for over 55 years. Tom earned a BS in Business Administration and Industrial Arts from Western Carolina University, a Masters in Ed. Administration from UNC Greensboro and served two years in the U.S. Army’s 75th Regimental Combat team on Okinawa where he was named the Soldier of the Year in 1955. He began his career at Western Electric in Technical Publications and Manufacturer Planning Engineering. Tom retired on September 1, 1996 from Forsyth Technical Community College with 33 years of service. During his time at FTCC, he taught Architectural and Mechanical Drafting and completed his career as the Assistant V.P. for Continuing Education. Tom was active in many professional education associations and community service clubs. He was named Person of the Year (1982-1983) in Region IV of the National Council for Community Service on Continuing Education; President of the North Carolina Community Adult Educators Association; Charter Member and second President of the Yadkinville Jaycees; Past President and Charter Member of the Sertoma Club - West Winston-Salem; served as Governor of the West North Carolina district of Sertoma International; President of the Yadkinville Athletic Boosters Association and was Past President of the Western Carolina University Alumni Association. He is predeceased by his parents and sister Shelby W. Sewell (Danny) of Rocky Mount, NC. He is survived by his loving wife, Deanna B. Williams of the home, many nieces, nephews and extended family. A memorial service will be held Monday, August 22, 2022, 2:00 pm at New Philadelphia Moravian Church with family visitation following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Philadelphia Moravian Church, 4440 Country Club Rd. Winston - Salem, NC, 27104 or Kate B.
