Dr. Jack Bennett, 86, of Winston-Salem, beloved dentist and member of the community, passed away in the afternoon of Saturday, September 29, 2018. Dr. Bennett was born in Harnett County to the late Seth Bennett and Margie Burns Bennett. Growing up in Dunn, NC, Jack became quite the accomplished pianist, playing recitals for local social associations. He attended Campbell College and then UNC as an undergraduate, followed by graduation from UNC Dental School in 1957. Jack went on to serve in the United States Army as a dentist during the Korean Conflict, after which time he joined his classmate Robert Boyles in a thriving dental practice in Winston-Salem for 40 years. He was an active member at Augsburg Lutheran Church and an avid UNC football fan. Jack was a loving and generous husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Charlene Bennett; daughter, Celia Bennett of Raleigh; son, Andrew Bennett (Kim) of Hendersonville. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018 at Augsburg Lutheran Church, with Rev. Paul A. Wollner officiating. Family will receive friends following the memorial service in the Family Life Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Augsburg Church, 845 W. Fifth Street, Winston-Salem, NC.
