– Mr. Clarence Nyles “Bun” Weavil, 91, was shared by God with us a long time, but it was time for him to go home on Thursday, January 26, 2023, with his daughter, Carla by his side. Clarence was born December 10, 1931, in Forsyth County to the late Jacob Madison Weavil and Lillian Hayworth Weavil. He was a member of Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church. He was a fulltime tobacco farmer until his retirement. He loved being out on his tractor, which he shared his love for with his grandson, Stacy. He enjoyed watching and counting his cows. He loved his fall fishing trips to the coast and attending NASCAR races with his brother-in-law, Tom Parnell and nephews Norman and Kerry. On Sundays, you could find him at his niece’s, Phyllis Bottoms’, home watching races with his nephew-in-law, Wayne. He often said he went places and seen things he would have never done if it were not for Tom, Norman and Kerry.
In addition to his parents, “Bun” was preceded in death by his son, Craig Weavil, grandson and best friend, Stacy Mackie, and his 14 siblings, close nephews, Kenny Weavil and Norman Parnell.
He is survived by his daughter, Carla Mackie (Ronnie), three grandchildren, Tina Knight (Bryan), Nicole Avant, and Jason Weavil (Blaire) all of Kernersville, six great grandchildren, Lola Knight, Matthew Knight, Timothy Knight, Coy Pennell, Charlie Weavil, and Craig Weavil II, many special nieces, nephews and friends.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Abbotts Creek Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Denny Hester officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the graveside service at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. The family request for all friends and family to come as you are. Memorials may be made to Brenner Children’s Hospital at Wake Forest-Baptist Health P.O. Box 571021 Winston-Salem, NC 27157, or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
