Zona Sanders

Mrs. Zona Gale Wright Sanders, 82, went home to be with Jesus Monday December 6, 2021. Born in Thunderbolt, Georgia, she was a native of Macon, Georgia and a resident of Winston-Salem, North Carolina most of her life. Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by her parents, Dana Elkin and Althea Key Wright; her husband, William Allen Sanders; her daughter, Phyllis Elaine Harley (John) and great grandson, Aydan Gabriel Smith. Survivors include her daughters Karen Alane Cauthen (Joseph, Sr.) and Katie Montie (Jason); sisters Myra Belote, Janet Parker (Robert, Sr.) and Rhetta Bryant; grandsons Daniel Andrew Smith (Susan), Joseph Lee Cauthen, Jr., John Harley Jr., and Nathan Montie; great grandsons, Neasean and Jamone Cauthen; great granddaughters, Bethany Danielle Smith and Aalexis Canty; nephews and nieces, Chris Preston, Robert Parker, Jr., Mysti Preston, Nichole Pittman and Kelli Parker. A memorial service will be held for Mrs. Sanders on Monday 12/13/2021 at 12:00 PM in the afternoon at Hayworth Miller Funeral Home, Silas Creek Pkwy, with Chaplain Drew Southern from Mountain Valley Hospice officiating. There will not be an interment at this time as Mrs. Sanders was a full body donation to Wake Forest Baptist Medical School. The family will receive friends before the service from 11:30 AM - 12:00 PM at the funeral home and after the service at the residence.
