Zelma Brown Bowles, 90 passed away Sat. Oct. 3 at Clemmons Village Assisted Living. She was born May 25, 1919 in Forsyth County to William Thomas Brown and Lina Voncannon Brown. She was a graduate of Reynolds High School and attended Salem College. She was formerly employed at Grocery Supply and then at J. G. Messick and Sons. She was a member of Becks Baptist Church which she faithfully attended as long as her health permitted. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Gilbert Bowles Jr, brothers, Wade Harold Brown, Frank Sherman Brown, a sister, Faye Brown Maeder. She is survived by a daughter, Janice B King of Clemmons, a grandson, Aaron King and wife Bethany of Kernersville, a son, Michael Bowles and wife Paulette, Grandchildren, Susan Caroline Bowles, Michael Jay Bowles, and Peter Gilbert Bowles, all of North Potomac Md, two sisters Sarah Shuping of Clemmons, Becky Blankenship and husband Alan of Raleigh and a sister-in-law Mrs Louise Kapp and husband John of Pfafftown. Funeral services will be conducted 11:30 am Tuesday Oct. 6 at Becks Baptist Church by Dr. Ray Hamilton and Dr. Karl Miner with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Becks Baptist church or to the charity of their choice.
