Zane Gregory Snider, 19, passed away Sunday, September 06, 2015 at Duke University Hospital. He was born August 7, 1996 in Forsyth County the son of Gregory Lewis Snider and Sharon Deavers Snider. Zane was the first Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome patient in the world to receive the SynCardia Total Artificial Heart Transplant which was performed at Duke University Hospital. He passed away from complications non-related to the transplant. He had been an active speaker for the American Heart Association. Zane was also an active and serving member of Freedom Baptist Church in Rural Hall. He was loved by all who knew him and an inspiration to many. Zane was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Robert Michael Snider. In addition to his parents, Greg and Sharon, Zane is also survived by his sister, Mary Kathryn Joines (Casey) of Pfafftown; two brothers, Zachary T. Snider and Zion R. Snider both of the home; paternal grandmother, Mary Lou Snider of OH; maternal grandparents, H. Russell and Rita Deavers of OH; four uncles; and nine cousins. A funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Monday, September 7 at Freedom Baptist Church in Rural Hall with Pastor Jon White and Pastor Clint Fredericks officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service until 8 p.m. Interment will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in New Lexington, OH following the services in Ohio.
