Zachary Zane Mathis

Mr. Zachary “Zach” Zane Mathis, 54, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. 

He was born on April 14, 1970, to Harvey Walter Mathis and the late Janet Haynes Mathis in Forsyth County, NC.

Zach graduated from Parkland High School in 1987, and later attended High Point University. He would then would go on to work for Schneider National. After many years of dedicated employment, he would transfer to Old Dominion Freight Line where he would then retire. Throughout his employment as a long line truck driver, he accomplished being a multi-million-mile accident-free driver. In his free time, Zach was a certified scuba diver, enjoyed skiing, and enjoyed tinkering with anything broken. He was extremely talented at repairs and loved doing so. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Janet Haynes Mathis, who passed away on January 24, 2021.

Those left to cherish his memory include his father, Harvey Walter “Walt” Mathis; his brother, David Haynes Mathis and wife Chastity; his fiancée, Andrea Waite; his nephew, Brady Reed Mathis; and his niece, Blakely Elizabeth Mathis. 

A graveside service to honor Zach’s life will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 2:00PM at Mitchell’s Chapel Church in Boonville, NC, with Rev. John Bishop officiating. 

In lieu of flowers and meals, the family asks that donations be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC, 27103.
