Wyatte Victor Shields

KERNERSVILLE-Wyatte Victor Shields, 93, formerly of the Union Cross Community of Forsyth Co., passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born May 19, 1920 in Forsyth Co. to the late Andy Victor and Shellie Motsinger Shields.

Mr. Shields was a member of Union Cross Moravian Church attending regularly as long as his health permitted, he served as co-chief head usher for many years and as a past board member. He retired from Bob Neill Pontiac after many years of employment. He had a long-time interest in antique cars, owning several and taking part in the activities of the local Antique Car Club, especially road trips driving his T-model. Mr. Shields served his country during WWII as a military policeman in the Army, 555th MP EG Co., mainly stationed in Hawaii at a prisoner of war camp.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Mae Leonard Shields; sisters, Aniece S. Todd, Marguerite S. Marmey; and brother, Jack Shields.

Surviving are his son, Donald G. Shields and wife, Barbara; granddaughter, Donna S. Hardy and husband, Leslie; sisters, Bobbie S. Scott, Sadie S. Craven; brother, Harper Shields; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Union Cross Moravian Church with Rev. Don Griffin and Rev. Linda Browne officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2014 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel.
