Worth G. Seats

Mr. Worth G. Seats, 80, died June 19, 2013. He was born in Forsyth County to Sidney N. and Ethel Black Seats on January 28, 1933. On June 20, 1959 he married Faye Kluttz Seats. Mr. Seats was an active member of Union United Methodist Church. He graduated from Lewisville High School in 1952 and Catawba College in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He was inducted into the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Sports Hall of Fame in 1993 for his outstanding achievement in high school and college basketball and baseball. From 1953-1955 he honorably served on active duty in the Army of the United States during the Korean War. He was a member of the West Bend Lodge No. 434 Lewisville, and he received a fifty-year pin as a Master Mason. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. Mr. Seats was a retired employee of the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools where he taught Driver Education and coached basketball. As a lover of bluegrass music, he was the fiddle player for the Tarheel Travelers Bluegrass Band from 1978 to the present. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Nellie S. Langley, Adeline S. Harbin, Mary S. O'Harrah and Elizabeth S. Pilcher; three brothers, Sidney H. Seats, Hugh G. Seats and John C. Seats. Surviving are his wife, of the home; one sister, Frances S. Sisk of Winston-Salem; two brothers, Joseph ""Ted"" Seats and William ""Tan"" Seats and his wife, Wayne; a sister-in-law, Jackie Seats, all of Lewisville; a number of nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Bertie D. Kluttz; three sisters-in-law, Judy Fuller and her husband, Jim, Linda Bost and her husband, Tommy and Gay Prevette and her husband, Jay D. Prevette, all of Woodleaf, N.C. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel on Friday, June 21, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Union United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Edwin Needham and Rev. Tom Albert officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Union United Methodist Church, 8935 Shallowford Road, Lewisville, N.C. 27023 or Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27103.
