Woodrow Franklin Phibbs

Woodrow Franklin Phibbs, 72, of Pfafftown passed away unexpectedly on May 2, 2010 at his residence. He was born on October 15, 1937 in Fancy gap, VA to the late Coligny and Mae Phibbs. He was preceded in death by his brothers Carlos and Murray Phibbs and a sister, Alma Stanley and a special son-in-law, Tony Hedgecock. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Donnie Hopkins Phibbs; a special friend and companion, his dog Frosty; a daughter, Susan Hedgecock of Walkertown; three sons, Darrell Phibbs and wife Valerie of Winston-Salem, Harold Phibbs and fianc郩e Sandy Shaw of Winston-Salem, and Andy Phibbs of Pfafftown; his grandchildren, Pamela Anderson and husband Michael of Mocksville, Jenny Paris of Walkertown, Billie White of Winston-Salem, Sarah Mullins of Walkertown, Josh Phibbs of Winston-Salem, Beth Phibbs of Harmony, Jason Hedgecock of Lexington, Tonya Berrier and husband Jamie of Linwood, Christy Hollar and husband Jay of Mocksville, Ashley Valentine and Melissa Valentine of Kernersville; 18 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson; a special brother, Basil Phibbs and wife Beatrice of Pffafftown; two sisters, Geneva Stanley of Winston-Salem and Lena Matherley of King; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Shelby Harbour officiating. Entombment will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
