Mr. Woodrow Jerry ""Jay Bird"" Flowers, Jr., 46, of Winston-Salem passed away Monday, February 16, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born June 18, 1962 in Forsyth County to Woodrow Jerry Flowers, Sr. and Betty Rich Flowers. Mr. Flowers had a great sense of humor, a huge heart, and loved helping people. He worked at Forsyth Medical Center for several years, and he volunteered at the Muscular Dystrophy Camp in Charlotte. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Timothy Wayne. Surviving are his daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Flowers of Siloam; three sisters, Sandy Robinson and Tammy Flowers, both of Winston-Salem, and Anna Goodwin of Pfafftown; six nieces and nephews, Roger Robinson, Shannon Johnston, Misty Shropshire, Kenneth Goodwin, Joshua Goodwin and Thomas Robinson; and several extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 19 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Roger Robinson, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 2306 W. Meadowview Rd., #125, Greensboro, NC 27407. The family wishes to express special thanks to the E.R. and ICU3 at Forsyth Medical Center for their care above and beyond what was expected.
