Winnie Poindexter Morris

Mrs. Winnie Poindexter Morris, 77, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend went to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC. She was born on November 22, 1931 to the late John B. and Alice Gilley Poindexter in Monroe, LA. Mrs. Morris was a long time member of Love's United Methodist Church in Walkertown, NC and member of Compassionate Friends of Winston-Salem. Winnie will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harry L. Morris, Sr., a son, Jeffery Thomas Morris, a brother John Poindexter, and a sister Sadie P. Blalock. She is survived by her children, a son, Harry L. Morris, Jr. and daughter -in-law Cheryl Morris of Rural Hall, NC, a daughter, Brenda Morris Mickey and son-in-law Ted Mickey of Walkertown, NC, four grandchildren, Harry L. Morris, III (Trey) of Swannanoa, NC, Wiley Kenneth Morris (Kenny) of Sylva, NC, Andrew Lamar Mickey (Drew) and Katy Morris Mickey of Walkertown, NC; and a brother, Bill Poindexter of Monroe, LA, a sister -in-law Ruth Morris of Walkertown, NC. A service to celebrate her life will be held 12:00 noon Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at Love's United Methodist Church in Walkertown, NC with the Rev. Chip Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
