Winnella 'Nell' Leinbach Duncan

Mrs. Winnella ""Nell"" Leinbach Duncan passed away early Saturday morning on January 5, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born on December 15, 1913 in Forsyth County to the late William and Etta Craft Leinbach. Nell attended Salem College before beginning her lifelong journey as a dietitian. She got her first dietitian opportunity at Baptist Hospital, and then moved to Martinsville Hospital before returning to Salem College. But this time Nell didn't come back to be a student, she came to give back to the school that helped her begin her career. After years of working with Salem College in the Housing and Food department, she finished her career as a dietitian at Centenary United Methodist Church. Nell loved cooking dinners for her family and even kept cooking up until she was 98 years old. Nell was a lifelong member of Mount Tabor United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband Marion Potter; her second husband Robert Duncan; four sisters Treva Fulcher, Lois Dancy, Inez Leinbach, and Martha Leinbach; 2 nephews Bill Dancy (Lee) and David Fulcher; and niece Amelia Bost. Although Aunt Nell did not have children of her own she was a central figure to the lives of her nieces and nephews. Nell is survived by niece Betty Dancy Adams (Fred), nephew Hugh Fulcher (Karen), nephew Chester Fulcher (Debbie), nephew Terry Fulcher (Joan), niece Dianne Anderson; and several grand nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday January 8, 2013 at Mount Tabor United Methodist Church with Dr. Mark Key officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday January 7, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mount Tabor United Methodist Church 3543 Robinhood Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27106. The family would like to give a special thanks to Nell's caregivers Emily, Virginia, Dessie, Porchea, Shaniece, and Brenda, who showed Nell so much love and compassion.
