Wilson "Skip" Smothers

Mr. Wilson ""Skip"" McLain Smothers, 58, passed away Thursday, June 05, 2014 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born on December 16, 1955 in Forsyth County to George Deo Smothers, Sr. and Virginia Laetitia Peddycord. Skip had been a member of Bethany Baptist Church for 33 years where he sang in the Praise Team and attended the Welcome Sunday School Class. Skip worked at Pfaff's Inc. for 28 years. He enjoyed NASCAR, Baseball, family beach vacations, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, George Deo Smothers, Jr. Surviving is his wife of 36 years, Pam Smothers; two sons, Justin Smothers and wife Abbie, and Chase Smothers; Three grandchildren, Hunter, Eleanor, and Parker Smothers; one sister, Sandra Sammons, two nieces, Kim Hendrix and Tisha Crosshan; a nephew, Kent Smothers; four great nieces; two great nephews. A celebration of life service will be held at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, June 10, 2013 at Bethany Baptist Church with Dr. Brad Stamey and Rev. Brian Alverson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Music Ministry at Bethany Baptist Church, 600 Old Hollow Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27105. The family would like to thank the staff at Kate B.. Reynolds and the staff at the Cancer Center at Baptist Hospital for their kindness during a difficult time.
