Wilma Smith Wilkes

KERNERSVILLE-Wilma Smith Wilkes, 91, on January 5, 2011 The Lord came and took our beloved mother to heaven to be with Jesus our Savior. She was born March 9, 1919 in Stokes Co. to the late Terry and Martha Ellen Smith. Wilma loved her family dearly and was so loved by everyone that knew her. She was a wonderful cook and loved to cook Sunday dinners for her family and did so until she was 90 years old. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Julian L. Wilkes; an infant son, Bobby Dean Wilkes;five brothers; and three sisters all of Walnut Cove . Surviving are her daughter, Jean Martin and husband C.E. of Walnut Cove; two sons, Jerry Wilkes and wife, Cindy, Daniel Wilkes and wife, Vickie all of Kernersville; 7 grandchildren; and 11great-grandchildren. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Dr. Bobby Roberson and Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Friday, January 7, 2011 at the funeral home and following the service at the home of her son, Daniel Wilkes, 5887 Stigall Rd., Kernersville.
