Wilma Jean Badgett Kidd

Mrs. Wilma Jean Badgett Kidd, age 96, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, June 10, 2023. Jean was born May 8, 1927, in Jackson Hill, NC to the late William R. and Julia Surratt Badgett. Jean graduated from Denton High School in 1945 and Kings Business College in Greensboro in 1947. She lived in Miami, FL for 20 years. In 1972 she moved back to Greensboro. She married Warren Kidd, Sr. in 1975. After retiring she spent the next 12 years doing volunteer work with Meals on Wheels and Shepherd’s Center, and enjoying her favorite past-time, quilting. She served as president for the Winston-Salem Lady Lions, Winston-Salem Pilot Club, and was on the Board of the N.C. Eye and Tissue bank. She also served as treasurer of her Mary-Martha Sunday School class for 35 years. Jean was preceded in death by her mother and father; her son, Bill Hall; five brothers and two sisters; and her beloved husband Warren. She is survived by her daughter, Jeanette Livingston of Summerfield, NC; five grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Hayworth-Miller in Winston-Salem. A funeral service will be held at 2:30pm on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at Knollwood Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Norman officiating. Interment will follow at Clear Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery in Denton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shepherd’s Center, 1700 Ebert St., Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Knollwood Baptist Church, 330 Knollwood St., Winston-Salem, NC 27104.
