Mrs. Willie Mae Poindexter Sneed, 88, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Forsyth Medical Center. Willie was born in Forsyth County on September 23, 1932 to the late Sandy Levi Poindexter and Viola Wood Poindexter and grew up in the Waughtown area of Winston-Salem. She was a graduate of Gray High School and retired from RJR Tobacco Co. Willie was a longtime member of Grace Baptist Church. She was a devoted and selfless wife & mother who always put others first. She loved her Lord and literally lived out her faith in all that she did. The two years Ralph was in a nursing home, she spent every day with him, tirelessly loving and caring for him. It can honestly be said that no one ever had anything unkind to say about Willie. She had that wonderful, sweet spirit about her and a smile on her face in all circumstances. Prior to Ralph’s illness and then her own, she loved spending days out with her daughters, crocheting, and watching Hallmark movies. She loved her church family and was active in the church as long as she was physically able. In addition to her parents, Willie was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Ralph Lewis Sneed; sister and brother-in-law, Sadie (Pete) and Lawrence McKnight; grandson, Matthew Lawson Berry; and great-granddaughter, Emily Claire Workman. Surviving family includes her two daughters, Debbie Cohn (Jim) of Advance and Susan Workman (Jimmy) of Midway; four grandchildren, Charity Calandrino (Tim), Travis Workman (Laura), Matthew Cohn (Amber) and Kristin Cardwell (Tanner); seven great-grandchildren, Ann, Jack, Elizabeth, Ava, Alice, Charlotte, and Walter; nephew, Mike McKnight (Barbara); and extended family members. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Monday, February 15, 2021 at Grace Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. The family will receive friends from 10:45 – 11:45 AM at the church prior to the service. Burial will immediately follow the service at Lexington City Cemetery in Lexington. For the safety of the family and all of those in attendance, masks will be required to attend the service (a limited number will be provided if needed), and attendees will be asked to practice social distancing. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Bruce Brasher and Dr. David Hurd for their exceptional care of Willie over many years. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 3305 Peters Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27127. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com
