Mrs. Willie Moore Myers, 94, of Winston-Salem passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born September 30, 1914 in Gaffney, SC to William Barto and Lillie Alcorn Moore. Mrs. Myers was retired from Hanes after 48 years of service. She was a member of Woodland Baptist Church. She loved gardening and was known to have a ""green thumb."" She was also an excellent cook, well known for her five flavor pound cake and her chocolate pie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Royd H. Myers; two brothers; and three sisters. Surviving is her daughter, Sandra Bowman of Winston-Salem; a sister, Vernice Miller of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Angela Bowman of High Point and Jodie Long and husband Tim of Yadkinville; two step great grandchildren, Jeremy Long and Christopher Long. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, Jan. 15 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Tim Gammons officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday one hour prior to the service.
