Willie Vernon Judy" Heathershaw

Mrs. Willie Vernon ""Judy"" Heathershaw, 85, of Winston-Salem passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Moses Cone Hospital. She was born February 26, 1925 in Forsyth County to Hubert Melvin and Nina Sue Alley Highfill. Mrs. Heathershaw worked for the Parks and Recreation Department of Winston-Salem and at Cannon Music Camp at Appalachian State University. She has been a member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1970. Her family opened their home to soldiers during WWII where she met her husband. Mrs. Heathershaw enjoyed sewing and quilt making. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Melvin Highfill; and one sister, Allie Highfill Powell. Surviving is her husband, Robert E. ""Bob"" Heathershaw; three daughters, Kathryn H. Benson of Winston-Salem, Beth H. Shope and husband Matthew, Robin H. Davis and husband Michael, all of Greensboro; one son, Eugene G. Heathershaw and wife Mary Ellen of Huntsville, AL; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 22 at Forsyth Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Dr. Gary Chapman officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery one hour prior to the service.
