Willie Holliman Blackburn

Colfax - Willie Holliman Blackburn, 83, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2011 at her home. She was born September 15, 1927 in York Co., SC to the late Clyde and Willie Hudgins Holliman. Mrs. Blackburn was a member of Shady Grove Wesleyan Church. She retired from Kroger after many years of service. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Russell Eugene Blackburn, Sr.; and one grandson. Surviving are her two sons, Russell Eugene Blackburn, Jr. and Gerald ""Jerry"" W. Blackburn both of Colfax; two daughters, Linda Barrow Mikell of Richmond, VA, Debra B. Rivers of Roanoke, VA; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Ray Kelly of Eden; and one sister, Barbara McLendon of Phoenix City, AL. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Shady Grove Wesleyan Church with Pastor Sam White and Pastor Phil Kirkman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, NC 27405.
