WINSTON SALEM – William “Bill” Phillip Smith (The Man, The Myth, The Legend), passed away in his home on October 20, 2022 as many loved ones held his hand and walked him home. Bill made his grand entrance into this world November 3, 1944 into the arms of Lloyd and Helene Smith.
If you ever had the pleasure of meeting Bill, it was inevitable that he would make you spew a drink out of your nose at one of his really inappropriate jokes. He was always cutting up and making people laugh. If he wasn't clowning, he was probably cussing at something he was building. His mind was absolutely brilliant, you would find him staring silently, but he was creating something in his mind. Over the next month you would see the magnificence coming to fruition and the silent stare would then make sense.
Bill is now reunited with his parents, his son, Scott, his brothers, Nippy, Mike, and Steve; and many other loved ones.
Bill will be greatly missed by Denise, his wife of 34 years, his son, Brian and wife Susan; and his daughter, Chelsea. Bill was fortunate enough to have built a large legacy of Smith's including so many beautiful, vivacious grandchildren and great grandchildren that will always carry his love and a part of him.
A service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Dorothy Setzer officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
