William Latham Thrower, Jr., 81, entered the more immediate presence of the Lord on Monday, February 28, 2022, at Novant Health Clemmons Medical Center. He was born in Williamston, NC, the son of the late William Latham Thrower, Sr., and Louise Melson Thrower on February 8, 1941. Bill attended UNC-Chapel Hill on a football scholarship and then served 8 years in the U.S. Air Force. He worked at Digital Equipment Corporation for 25 years, and then worked in the flooring business for several years. Bill was an active member of Clemmons Moravian Church where he served as a trustee, a diener, and an usher. One of his favorite church activities was the monthly Men’s Fellowship breakfasts. Bill was an avid golfer, and his sense of humor always made the round more fun for his fellow players. He enjoyed audio books, old black and white movies, and especially spending time with his family. Bill loved life and loved a good time, always making someone laugh with his quick wit and endless one-liners. His smile and positive attitude will be remembered. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jean Binkley Thrower; two daughters, Stacey Thrower Hall (Stuart) and Kelly Thrower; son, Kevin Thrower; four grandchildren, Dylan Elkin (Barret), Bryce Freeman (Dylan), Riley Hall and Johnny Kilian; two great-grandchildren, Blake and Brooks Elkin; sister, Judy Thrower Kells (Doug); also surviving are several nieces and nephews and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty and Lonnie Ashby. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 12th at Clemmons Moravian Church with Rev. Christopher C. Thore officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clemmons Moravian Church, PO Box 730, Clemmons, NC 27012.
