Mr. William ""Bill"" Howard Stewart, Jr., 88, died Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at N. C. State Veterans Home in Salisbury.
Bill was born July 25, 1925 to the late William Howard Stewart, Sr. and Rose Pearson Stewart. He served in the Pacific in the 41st infantry in WWII. After his service in the military, he worked for many years as a plumber for Sink Plumbing. Bill was a fan of Richard Petty and the Carolina Tarheels and loved John Wayne. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dairl Jessie Stewart, sisters, Juanita Gass and Erline Moorefield, and brother, Donnie Stewart.
Bill is survived by his sons, Billy Stewart and wife Tricia of Clemmons and Tim Stewart and wife Kathy of Mocksville; sisters, June Murphy and Kitty Gallagher, both of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Shane, Stacey, Shaun, Kristi and Tiffany; and 9 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Friday, May 16, 2014 at 10 am at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with military honors.
The family would like to thank the staff of N.C. State Veterans Home for the wonderful care they gave Bill over the years.
