William "Bil" Allen Steen, Jr.

Mr. William ""Bil"" Allen Steen, Jr., 68, of King, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at his home. He was born March 21, 1946 in Roxbury, Massachusetts to William Allen Steen, Sr. and Mary Smith Steen. Mr. Steen was a U.S. Marine and served in Vietnam. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Mr. Steen was an avid sports fan and was especially fond of all the Boston teams. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Michael Anthony Steen. Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Dorothy Steen of the home; five children, Nikki Phipps and fiancé Larry Tilley, Travis Steen, Shannon Steen, Stephen Starbuck and wife Wendy, Kathy Landreth and fiancé Roger Collins; grandchildren, Leslie Phipps, Austin Phipps, Alyssa Johnson and husband Ryan, Ashley Starbuck, Brock Landreth, Josh Landreth, and Maggie Collins; one great grandson, Finn Johnson; sister, Mary Lou Hunt and husband Larry; brother, Patrick Steen and wife Cecelia. A gathering of family and friends, celebrating Mr. Steen's life will be held 5:00-8:00 Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Mt. View Community Center, 2345 Slate Rd., King, N.C.
