William Edward Sidden Jr.

SIDDEN - WINSTON-SALEM William Edward Sidden, Jr., 88, of Winston-Salem, passed quietly on to meet his Lord and Maker on Friday, January 20, 2012 after a lengthy hospital stay. He was born February 17, 1923 in Forsyth County to the late Stella Sparks Sidden and William Edward Sidden, Sr. He was a Navy WWII veteran and retired from Hanes Hosiery. During his life, he was a faithful father and husband. In his younger years, he attended Old Fashioned Baptist Church in Stanleyville. After marriage, he attended Corinth Church of Christ in Germanton and finally during his declining years, he attended Marshall Baptist Church in Winston-Salem with his daughter. William was a six year resident of Rose Tara Plantation in King. In addition to his parents, Mr. Sidden was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Eileene White Sidden; his sister, Irene Sidden. Surviving are his daughter, Ruth Sidden Dowell and husband, Benjamin F. Dowell, Jr. of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Lois Eileene Dowell and Benjamin F. ""Trey"" Dowell, III of Winston-Salem; two brothers, Elmo Garfield Sidden of Pinnacle and John Thomas Sidden of Winston-Salem. A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, January 23 at Crestview Memorial Park with the Rev. John Holmes officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 prior to the service at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall.
