William Pledger, Sr.

William (Bill) Gerald Pledger left this world to see his Savior face-to-face on Wednesday, November 24, 2021. He was born October 27, 1939, in Jackson, Alabama to John Thomas and Eunice McIntyre Pledger of Laurel, Mississippi.

Bill was a good provider for his family, he was kind, hard-working and loved to make people laugh with his jokes. He was much loved by his family and was a wonderful father-in-law. He loved his church family from Lexwin Baptist Church. In his early years, he was employed by S. H. Kress in Laurel, Mississippi for 15 years, then for Chesapeake Display & Packaging in Winston-Salem for 27 years.

Bill was preceded in death by his mother and father, sisters, Virginia Sullivan, Shirley Brown, and Claudia Gray. Bill is survived by his wife, Bonnie Sue Pledger, daughter, Tammie McKenzie (Barry), sons, William Gerald Pledger Jr., (Diane) and Walter Pledger, (Melanie). He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His grandchildren are Philip Pledger, (Aindrea), Michael Pledger,(Jennifer), Kathryn Eddins, (Seth), Ryan McKenzie, David-Allen Pledger, (Mollie), Andrew Pledger, and Stephen Pledger. His great-grandchildren are Logan Pledger, Juniper Pledger, Luda Pledger and Masha Pledger.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm, Sunday November 28th, 2021 at Lexwin Baptist Church, 100 Wainwright St, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
