William 'Billy Joe' Pettus

KERNERSVILLE- William ""Billy Joe"" Pettus, 72, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2011, at his home. Billy Joe was born August 15, 1938 in Stokes County to the late Louis and Winfred Mabe Pettus. He was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church and retired from RJR Tobacco Company. In addition to his parents, Billy Joe was preceded in death by a brother, Buddy Pettus. Surviving are his wife, Ann Pettus, of the home; two daughters, Nicole Reavis (Jeff) and Portia Lakey (Robert) of Kernersville; three grandchildren, Katie, Mattie and Clara Lakey; one brother, Harvey Pettus (Jean) of Winston-Salem and a special nephew, Mark Tysor (Wendi). A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Roberson and Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 13, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.
