Mr. William Louis Oakley, 75, of Lewisville, passed away peacefully, in his sleep on July 16, 2008 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home after a long and courageous battle against cancer. He was born on February 1, 1933, in Stokes County to Medley Wilkins and Jetter Troy Oakley. He was a graduate of Sandy Ridge High School and retired from AT&T (Lucent) in 1990 after 38 years of service. He then worked at H&R Block at Sears for 17 years, making many friends there. He was an active member and deacon at Lewisville Baptist Church. Traveling and square dancing as a Twin City Twirler was a great part of his life. He was also a member of Pioneer Lodge 685. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Gina Dawn Oakley. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Evelyn, a daughter, Robin Jarvis and her husband Rick of Clemmons, and his faithful Shelties, Angel and Smokey. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Lewisville Baptist Church with Rev. Les Puryear and Rev. Joe Coltrane officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends form 6-8 PM Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
