William "Bill" Orson Ney

Mr. William "Bill" Orson Ney, 96, of Winston Salem, NC, formerly of Shaker Heights, OH, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday September 24, 2024, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born on April 8, 1928, in DuBois, PA to Morse and Nellie Ney. Bill served in the United States Army where he reached the rank of 2nd Lieutenant and was honorably discharged Nov. 30, 1953. Bill was a member of Pinedale Christian Church in Winston-Salem, NC. He retired from Shaker Heights Board of Education in Shaker Heights, OH. Preceding Mr. Ney in death were his parents, brothers Bob and George and sisters Janet and Natalie and his beloved wife Loretta Ney. Mr. Ney is survived by his three children, David (Carolyn) of South Euclid, OH, Janet Williams of Winston-Salem, NC and Richard (Julie) of Winston-Salem, NC; Six grandchildren, April, Gus (Kaitlyn), Abigail, Olivia (Jacob), Reese and Cooper and three great grandchildren, Amelia, Gabriella and Cloud. Funeral services for Mr. Ney will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Hayworth Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Danny Spainhour officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Hayworth Miller Funeral Home 3315 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston- Salem, NC 27103. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Forsyth Humane Society 4881 Country Club Rd., Winston Salem, NC 27104.
