William Lewis Newton, III

William Lewis Newton, III, 74, of Winston-Salem, passed away on January 15, 2013 at his home. He was born June 9, 1938 in New Jersey to the late William L. Newton, Jr. and Barbara B. Newton of Morristown, NJ and Dorset, VT. He was a graduate of New York State Maritime College and had a long career in the merchant marine serving on a variety of vessels worldwide. He leaves behind his wife, Sheila O'Day Newton of Winston-Salem; a brother, Edmund H. Newton of South Dartmouth, MA; a son, Timothy O'Day of Guam; a grandson, William Newton O'Day; a granddaughter, Megan Kay O'Day; and several nieces and nephews. In accordance with Mr. Newton's wishes, no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shepherd's Center, 1700 Ebert Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
