William Elmer Meyers

Mr. William Elmer Meyers, 88, of Advance, NC and formerly Town of Tonawanda, NY passed away Saturday, September 22, 2012. He was one of the first Rich Products Corp. employees who became a key executive with the company. Born in Buffalo, NY, Mr. Meyers graduated from the University of Buffalo where he later taught the earliest computer and data processing courses and wrote several of the earliest computer science textbooks. Mr. Meyers helped pioneer the use of computer systems in business, first at Ernst & Young and then at Rich Products. He was a member of the Advance Masonic Lodge and served in the U.S. Navy in WWII. William E Meyers was the beloved husband of Betty Jane Meyers, whom he married in New York City after completing Naval training; father of William AA Meyers (deceased but survived by his wife, Jan Meyers) and Deborah A. Meyers; grandfather of Christian W. Meyers and Rachel A. Meyers and uncle to Lynette Seewaldt and her extended family. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
