William ""Bill"" Bennett McDonall died Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 28, 1926 to Bertrand J. McDonall and Mildred B. McDonall. Mr. McDonall was a veteran of the US Navy in World War II. He worked as a claims agent at Pilot Freight Carriers and McLean Trucking Company and for many years at Security Forces, Inc. He was a long-time member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of the Elks # 449, a loyal member of the ""poker group"" and an enthusiastic golfer. Mr. McDonall umpired baseball for the city of Winston-Salem for many years. He was a member of Union Ridge Methodist Church and later Ardmore Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Ruth Garrison McDonall and two daughters Linda and Lisa McDonall all of Winston-Salem; one sister Rev. Marjorie M. McCarty of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and a brother Bertrand J. McDonall, Jr. of Chicago, Illinois. There will be a Memorial service Thursday April 19, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel officiated by The Rev. Marjorie M. McCarty. A private inurnment will follow at Ardmore United Methodist Church Columbarium. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
