Mr. William David McCarson, 69 of Winston-Salem, died Friday, June 4, 2010. He was born June 4, 1941 in Asheville to the late Frank and Mildred Troutman McCarson. Mr. McCarson was a member of Knollwood Baptist Church, assistant Scout Master in Welcome, Troop #238, loved and collected old western movies and especially John Wayne. He had a charismatic personality and a wonderful sense of humor. Earlier in life, David loved adventures, like camping tours to various parts of the country. Surviving is his wife, Bonnie McCarson; three sons, Shannon McCarson and wife Robin of Advance, Eric McCarson of Lexington and Joel McCarson and wife Tonya of Welcome; four grandchildren, Alex Frye, Anna McCarson, Kaleb McCarson and Meredith McCarson; one uncle, Dr. William Troutman of Greenville; one aunt Judith Elliott of Sydney, NY and three cousins, Nancy McFadden of Goldsboro, Debra Barnes of Fisherville, VA. and Douglas Elliott of Sydney, NY. A memorial service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Knollwood Baptist Church by Rev Carolyn Ashburn and Dr. Kenneth Meyers. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to Knollwood Baptist Church, 330 Knollwood Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27104.
