William Preston Lawson

Mr. William Preston Lawson, 70, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023, at Woltz Hospice Home. He was born December 12, 1952, in Forsyth County to the late Johne David Lawson and Alta Loella Branch Lawson. Preston retired from the Town of Pilot Mountain after several years of service. He enjoyed riding his horses and motorcycle. Preston and his daughter, Christy, had a special garden they planted together. In addition, he was known for sitting on his front porch and waving as people went by.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, J.K. Lawson. He is survived by his daughter, Christy Lawson (Tina); four sisters, Earlene Joyce, Barbara Marion, Fay Speas, and Janice McCraw (Jerry); one brother, Bobby Lawson (Maggie); special nephew, Preston Hunter Snow; special niece, Kennedy Morgan Snow; three special cousins, Doug Lawson, Jeff Lawson, and Junior Lawson; and special horse, Patty Cake. A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Christian Community Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Jessup officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 1427 Edgewood Drive, Suite 101, Mount Airy, NC, 27030.
