Kernersville – Mr. William Larry “Red” Collins, 68, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at his residence. He was born on April 7, 1956, in Forsyth County to William Roy Collins and Mallie Mae Holder Collins. Red was a proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he served during the Vietnam War. During his almost 50 year working career, Red was known and respected as a dedicated hard worker who was diligent with completing any assignment he was placed on. Spending time with his family was very important to Red, as long as he was with them, he was happy. He was particularly proud of his son, Walter, whom he was incredibly close with.

In addition to his parents, Red was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Gordon and Bonnie Stafford and one brother-in-law, Glen Malloy.

He is survived by his son, Walter Collins (Jamison); three siblings, Ruth Malloy, Sammy Collins (Lisa) and Jeffery Collins (Dawn); and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no formal services at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in Red’s name be made to Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC at 3330 Shorefair Drive, Winston-Salem, NC 27105 or to Veterans Helping Veterans Heal at 3614 Glenn Ave NE, Winston-Salem, NC 27105. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the Collins family.
