William "Bill" Joseph Lakey

Mr. William ""Bill"" Joseph Lakey, Jr. passed away at his home Monday morning, January 5, 2015.
Bill was born in Forsyth County on August 9, 1933 to William Joseph Lakey, Sr. and Gladys Flynn Lakey. He retired after 33 years of service at Integon Corporation. After his retirement, Bill founded Lakey & Associates Real Estate. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister Colleen Lakey Cash. Bill was survived by his wife Betty Mullis Lakey of the home; a sister Wilma Lakey Payne (Benny) of Greensboro, NC; children Debra Lynn Lakey of Mocksville, NC, Jennifer Lakey Sherrill (Chuck) of Davidson, NC; William Joseph Lakey III of Winston-Salem; and Jeffrey Marshall Welch (Lori) of Advance, NC; and grandchildren William Charles Sherrill III, Katherine Elise Sherrill, Candace Nicole Lakey, Kristina Lynn Lakey, and Landon Marshall Welch. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Salem Baptist Church with Dr. Howard Wilburn officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM Saturday, January 10, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek.
