Mr. William ""Bill"" Francis Knopf, Jr. of Lexington passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center with his wife and children by his side. He was born December 7,1945 in Darby, Pennsylvania to William F. Knopf, Sr. and Alice Lambeth Knopf. Bill was a member of Friedberg Moravian Church where he was a member of the band and a former diener. He was retired from Royal Cake Company with over 30 years of service. He enjoyed life to the very fullest, taking every opportunity to share time and meals with family and friends. He loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing, visiting the coast, riding his Harley Davidson Sportster and above all, camping with his wife and grandchildren. He had a quick wit, warm smile, and a firm hug. He was especially fond of Easter and exemplified an enduring faith in the Lord. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Anthony Wayne. Surviving are his wife Betty of the home; a daughter, Pam Knopf Williams and her husband David; a son Andy Knopf of Winston-Salem; two granddaughters Taylor and Maddie; also Betty's family and children; his special companions Buttons and Peaches; and his grand dog Ellie. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00am Friday, October 24th at Friedberg Moravian Church with the Rev. G. Thomas Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Thursday, October 23rd at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials maybe made to Piedmont Dialysis Center, 655 Cotton St. Winston-Salem, NC 27101 or Hospice & Pallative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to express our sincere thanks to the nursing staff in ICU2 and the 9th floor at Forsyth Medical Center.
