William Stephen Kirkman

Mr. William Stephen Kirkman, 71, of Lewisville, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2017 at his home after a long courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born November 14, 1945 in Forsyth County to Albert and Celeste Kirkman. Mr. Kirkman was a member of Lewisville United Methodist Church who graduated from West Forsyth High School and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. Before Parkinson's disease took its toll, Steve enjoyed street rods, muscle cars, especially his '66 Chevelle. He loved NASCAR, surf fishing and family trips to the beach. Mr. Kirkman was preceded in death by his parents; a nephew, Mark Kirkman and a brother-in-law, Dick Cooksey. He was a devoted husband and father who is survived by his loving wife and caregiver, Anne Forbes Kirkman; son, Eric Kirkman; daughter, Ashley Olden and husband Jason and a precious grandson, Halen Olden. Also surviving are his brother, Reece Kirkman and wife Becky; two sisters, Betsy Cooksey and Beverly Davis and husband, Dean; nephews, Kent Kirkman and wife, Lisa, Jason Davis and wife, Stephanie and great nieces, Madison Bullard, Avery Kirkman, Celeste Kirkman and Kendall Davis. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Lewisville United Methodist Church with Dr. Ivan Peden and Rev. Susan Ewing officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family would like to thank some special people who have along the way provided professional and compassionate care: Hospice & Palliative Care of Winston-Salem, caregiver, Pamela Nifong, Dr. Martin Murphy, Dr. Lucy Lauve, Dr. Stephen Tatter, Boyd Bailey and Randi Eaton.
