William "Kermit" Johnson

Mr. William ""Kermit"" Johnson, 77, of Winston Salem passed away Friday April 17, 2015 at his home. He was born in Forsyth County on May 26, 1937 to William Henry Johnson and Emma Gertrude Wachter. Mr. Johnson served in the US Army, where he earned the Good Conduct, Carbine M1 and two letters of Appreciation Rifle M1. He retired from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company with 25 years of service. Mr. Johnson loved music, playing the guitar, World War II History and NASCAR. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son. Mr. Johnson is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ramona Johnson; and a daughter Karen Williams and husband Larry of Winston Salem. A graveside service, with military honors presented by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard, will be conducted 2:00 pm Monday April 20, 2015 at Parklawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Danny Hauser officiating. The family will receive friends from 6pm to 8 pm Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family would like to send a special thanks to his friends, Hospice, and his nurse, Maggie for their loving care of Kermit. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Kate B.
