William John Baker

William (Bill) Baker – age 69 passed away unexpectedly at home Friday, March 15th. He is preceded in death by his father Merle Baker, brother Tom Baker, sister-in-law Linda Gale Fong and nephew John David Walton. He is survived by his wife Debbie Baker, sister-in-law Barbara Fong Walton and husband David, niece Elizabeth Walton Stewart and husband William of Sanford, great-niece Julianne Stewart of Portland, Oregon; brother-in-law Ulim Fong, Jr. and wife Tina, and great-nieces and nephews Joshua Fong, Sarah Fong, Hannah Fong and James David Fong of Hernando, Mississippi; cousin Karen Hill and husband Al of Albuquerque, New Mexico; also surviving are his adopted family Jay and Sarah McClellan and grandchildren Annabelle and Henry McClellan of Mocksville and his lifelong best friend Red Bone of Madison, Wisconsin. Bill began his career in construction after serving in the navy. He was a construction superintendent for over forty years before his retirement. He enjoyed his time at the YMCA where he had many friends, riding his bicycle, working in the yard, watching football and eating meat with Dave; but most of all he enjoyed spending time with the grandkids. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Bill’s honor.
