William Jarrett, Sr.

Mr. William Leon Jarrett Sr., 92, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice. William was born in Giles County, VA. to the late Russell Jarrett and Evelyn Sawyers Jarrett on May 20, 1930.

William worked and retired from Roadway Freight Lines as a long-haul truck driver. He took pride in himself as most always being the first one to his destinations. After retirement he was a self-made green thumb gardener who could grow just about anything. He also was an avid car enthusiast and loved collecting NASCAR memorabilia.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Donald Jarrett; sister, Ruby Owens.

William is survived by his wife of 73 years, Virgie Kirk Jarrett; children, William “Bill” Jarrett (Debbie), Pat Nifong (Norm Vaden) and Kenny Jarrett (LouAnn); eight grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; many loved nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 AM Thursday, March 30, 2023, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens with Pastor Wayne Craig officiating. Memorials may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars, 130 Feed Mill Road, Advance NC 27006.  Online condolences may be sent to www.hayworth-miller.com.
