William Loyd Hutchens

Rev. William L. Hutchens, 86, of Lewisville, NC went home to be with the Lord on February 20, 2017. Rev. Hutchens was born June 25, 1930 in Yadkin County to the late William R. and Nellie Jane Spillman Hutchens. He was a member of Woodland Baptist Church. He served in the United States Marines during the Korean War on the USS Missouri and served in the Reserves for 5 years. He was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company where he worked for 35 years. Rev. Hutchens was called to preach by the Lord and licensed to preach July 24, 1968. He pastored Liberty Baptist Church in Mocksville for many years and also pastored West Bend Baptist Church of Lewisville for many years. He loved to share the gospel with others and many lives were touched through his ministry. He was a very loving husband, Dad, Paw Paw and Great Grandpa. He never met a stranger and you could always see the love of Christ in his smile. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Melvin Hutchens (Jesse) and sister-in-law, Geraline Hutchens. Rev. Hutchens is survived by his dear, loving wife of 65 years, Annie Hutchens; 3 children, Kathy Hall (Gary), Christine Flynn (Jeff), William L. Hutchens, Jr. (Cindi); 4 grandchildren, Dawn Henderson, Laura Dunaway (Brad), and Jonathan & Megan Hutchens; 4 great grandchildren, Gage & Madison Dunaway, and Kaylee & Eli Henderson; brothers, Moses Hutchens (Shelby), Billy Hutchens; and sisters, Ruby Hutchens and Hattie Vestal (George). A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 24, 2017 at Woodland Baptist Church in Rural Hall, NC with Rev. Tim Gammons and Rev. Randy Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. Rev. Hutchens will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service at Woodland Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM on Thursday at the church. Memorials may be made to Woodland Baptist Church Building Fund, and Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Our loss is Heaven's gain. ""I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."" 2 Timothy 4:7.
