William Bryant Hooker

Mr. William Bryant Hooker, 89, of Winston-Salem, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at his home. He was born March 22, 1923 in Forsyth County to Arthur W. and Tobitha Bryant Hooker. He was the last surviving of 12 children and was of the Christian faith. Bill served in the U.S. Army during WWII in Western Europe. He returned to Winston-Salem and worked for many years at Hennis Freight Lines and retired from Hooker Motor Company. Bill was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Linda Hooker of Haymarket, VA. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Autumn Murphy Hooker; three sons, Bill Hooker Jr. of Haymarket, VA and his children, Rachel and Charlie; Tommy Hooker and Brenda of Lexington, and Chuck Hooker of Winston-Salem; his grandchildren, Tommy Jr. and Leigh Hooker, Scott and Heather Hooker, and David Hooker, all of Lexington; his great grandchildren, Madison, Amelia, and Lilly. A private graveside will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
