William Henry Hester

BELEWS CREEK- William Henry Hester, 95, died Sunday, May 8, 2016. Mr. Hester was born in Forsyth County, NC on October 16, 1920 to Virgil Lee and Byrd Fulton Hester. He was affectionately known as ""Cathair"" by his grandchildren. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the United States Army, and later retired from Western Electric. Mr. Hester was a tobacco farmer, loved wood working, and was a lifelong member of Antioch United Methodist Church. He had a very deep love for his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by three sons; Henry, Max and Bobby Hester; a brother Robert Hester; and sisters Ruth Hester, Evelyn Burr and Mildred Mitchell.

Surviving are his loving wife of 68 years, Alline Lasley Hester; daughter Janet Marsh and husband Tim; two grandsons Joe Hester and wife Jamie, Ben Hester and wife Sarah; step grandson Landon Bowman; two granddaughters Angie Tilley and husband Johnny and Amanda Oglesby and husband Scott; two Daughters-in-law Kathy Hester and Margaret Kittrell; several great and step great grandchildren; and one sister Jean Cox.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Antioch United Methodist Church, Belews Creek, with Rev. Jesse Clubb and Rev. Larry Neal officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Kernersville.
