Mr. William Esmond Flynn, Jr., 92, died on February 13, 2017 at his residence. William (Bill) was born in Eden, NC, on August 9, 1924, to William Esmond Flynn, Sr. and Elizabeth Jones Flynn. Bill was born in Leaksville (now Eden), N.C August 9, 1924 and moved to Winston-Salem at a young age. He grew up in Ardmore and attended Ardmore Elementary, Wiley Junior High, and Reynolds High Schools. He was a member of Ardmore Moravian Church for 80 years.
After graduating from high school, Bill joined the Civil Service during World War II and moved to Washington, D.C. After only a brief time in Washington, Bill's father fell ill to a heart attack and he moved back to Winston-Salem to care for his Mom & Dad and financially support the family. After a brief stint working in the bookkeeping department at Winston-Salem City Hall, Bill joined Reisenweaver Communications selling G.E. 2-way radios. Bill was a natural salesperson and fell in love with his career in sales. He said many times, ""It sure beats working for a living."" Bill had a distinguished career in sales and was the longest serving 2-way radio salesman in the Triad, spending 40 years at Reisenweaver as their representative. The real love of Bill's life was his family. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Frances Flynn; and together they reared five children. His life was most fulfilled when celebrating family birthdays, family vacations to the beach and spending time with his children and grandchildren. In addition to his wife Frances, Bill is survived by his children Darryl (Tammy), Bill III (Cathy), Brian (Leslie), Cheryl, and Barry; his grandchildren Shauna (Edwin), Becky, Claire (Brandon), William IV, Sean, Barry Jr., and Colin; and great grandchildren Jack and Branch. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, February 16, 2017, at Parklawn Memorial Park Chapel of Faith, 2730 Peters Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem with Rev. Arkon Stewart officiating. Immediately following the service the family will greet friends.
