Mr. William Francis Flowers, also known as ""Super"" by those who knew and loved him, was born to Mr. Boyd Francis Flowers and Mrs. Josie Myers Flowers on June 16, 1929 in Winston-Salem, NC. He passed on to the more immediate presence of Jesus on January 4, 2013. Super enlisted to the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1950. During his service he participated in Operation Sandstone and the World Cruise of the USS Tarawa. After returning from the Navy he was wed to Annie Warner on February 2, 1951. In 1951 he began working with his father in the family business, Flowers & Sons Plumbing and Heating. After his father's death he continued working with his mother and brother in plumbing until he and Annie established and operated Flowers Grocery in 1971. In the early 1980s Super returned to plumbing forming W. F. Flowers Plumbing with his sons. Super was an avid fisherman and passed along the joy and skill of fishing to his sons and grandchildren. Most of all Super will be remembered for his sense of humor and delight in playing pranks on everyone. Super was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother, Josie Myers Flowers of Winston-Salem; his wife of 61 years Annie Warner Flowers of the home; daughter, Bonnie Kay Flowers of Winston-Salem; son William Francis Flowers, Jr. ""Winky"" and wife Karen of Winston-Salem; son Gene Gray Flowers and wife Jacqueline ""Jackie"" of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Alexandria Cross and husband Robert, LeAnn Nicole Flowers, Kirstie Leigh Flowers and Brennan Gray Flowers; one great grandchild, Lauren Hannah Cross; one brother Bobby Lee Flowers and wife Doris of Winston-Salem and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Monday, January 7, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hayworth Miller Funeral Home Silas Creek Chapel. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Hayworth Miller Funeral Home Chapel Silas Creek with Rev. G. Thomas Shelton and Rev. James C. Newsome, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Friedberg Moravian Church Mission Fund, 2178 Friedberg Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
