Mr. William Bill Flinchum of Clemmons died Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Flinchum was born August 28, 1930 in Stokes County to the late Percy and Pearl Gray Flinchum. After graduation from Marshall University, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Naval Aviator from 1954-1958. He was retired from Sara Lee Corporation and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Winston-Salem. Preceding him in death is a sister, Eunice Mae Flinchum Vaden. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Fischer Flinchum; a daughter, Leigh Jones and son-in-law John of Lawrenceville, GA; two sons, Eric Flinchum of Clemmons and Clay Flinchum and wife Lilliana of Costa Rica; four grandchildren, Zach, Matt and Lauren Jones of Lawrenceville, GA and Danny Russell of Costa Rica; two sisters, Grace Boles and husband Buddy of Rural Hall and Ruth James and husband Grady of Walnut Cove and a brother, Jack Flinchum and wife Earlene of King. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church Chapel in Winston-Salem with Dr. Harry Daniel officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church chapel lounge.
