William 'Dub' DeBerry Fesperman

Mr. William ""Dub"" DeBerry Fesperman, 79, of Advance passed away Monday, February 4, 2013 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Fesperman was born on December 21, 1933 in Forsyth County to Clarence Linville and Mary Earline Ellison Fesperman. Mr. Fesperman was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. He loved working in his yard, spending summers at the New River mountain cabin, and enjoyed every moment he spent with his grandchildren. Dub had a long career in sports, excelling in many facets of the game. He played football and baseball at Gray High School until he graduated in 1952. Dub graduated in 1956 from Duke University where he excelled in both football and baseball. After graduating, he began his career as a high school football coach, coaching throughout North Carolina. Dub moved up quickly and soon began coaching at the college level. He was on the coaching staff at Wake Forest University, Tulane University, Georgia Tech University, the University of Massachusetts, and Dartmouth College. After his coaching career, Dub returned to his roots in North Carolina and began his career as a professional scout, primarily for the Houston Oilers/ Tennessee Titans, where he worked for over 20 years. He will be remembered as a humble and loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, and coach. Mr. Fesperman was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Norma Lee. He is survived by his wife, Marie Pettyjohn Fesperman; two daughters, Sandra Honeycutt of Salisbury and Anne Foster and husband, Garry, of Advance; four grandsons, Josh Honeycutt of Salisbury, and Sam, Will, and Clayton Foster, all of Advance; a sister, Jean Bullin; a brother, Bob Fesperman and wife Sarah; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 3:00pm Friday, February 8, 2013 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Barry Lemons officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. The family wishes to thank the office of Dr. Walter Wray, the Palliative Care Unit of Forsyth Medical Center and the Kate B.
