William 'Bill' Clifton Ferrell

Mr. William ""Bill"" Clifford Ferrell, 82, of Winston-Salem, passed away Monday, May 21, 2012 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He was born December 15, 1929 in Anawalt, W.VA to Ted and Viva Dillon Ferrell. Mr. Ferrell was a member of Pinedale Christian Church where he was a past deacon. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and retired from United Mine Workers with 21 years of service. He owned and operated Ferrell Electrical and Plumbing for 20 years and then worked for Baptist Hospital until he retired at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Warren Payne. Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Peggy A. Ferrell of the home; two daughters, Chris Pitts and husband Dave of Winston-Salem and Billie Culler and friend George Newman of Winston-Salem; a special young lady whom he considered his own grandchild, Kayla Whisenhunt of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Mildred Crouse and husband J.T. of Bluefield, VA and Margaret Carroll and husband Clinton of Tazewell, VA; and a brother, Jack French and wife Doris of Tennessee. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 24 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Kent Allen and Pastor Bob McCaskill officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com
