William Franklin Davenport

Mr. William Franklin Davenport, 81, of Winston-Salem, passed away at Salemtowne on April 23, 2011. He was born in Forsyth County on January 21, 1930 to Warren and Louise Tesh-Griffith Davenport. Mr. Davenport was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with 34 years of service. He was also a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer and loved cars, especially his Mustang. Mr. Davenport was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife of 57 years, Barbara Kathryn Wooten Davenport. He is survived by a daughter, Kathryn Elizabeth Davenport of Lexington; a son, William Griffith Davenport of Lakeville, MN; three grandchildren, Benjamin, Andrew and Kelly Davenport; a brother, Jerry Davenport of Winston-Salem. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 30th at Salemtowne in the Saal Community Center with Chaplain Linda Browne officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory.
